I was using this as a starting place for my blog, and I have moved it over to http://dreaminpictures.com for good now.  You might be thinking that this looks exactly like the address you are at, but in fact its not.  Its missing the “I”.

So again….

Viva la San Francisco

February 26, 2008

I leave for San Francisco tomorrow morning for what we at the Creative Space is going to turn out to be a high profile, mind inspiring, open discussion at the first ever BIL Conference. Its not quite in San Francisco, but four of us will be flying into San Francisco to catch up with with a lot of friends and hopefully future business partners in the area.

Its funny how something that starts out as such a simple, and seemingly inocuous idea, turns out to attract some really big names in the industry. Some people I’m very interested in getting to meet are:

Robert Scoble – Founder of Fast Company and Human Blog Aggregator

Aubrey de Grey – BIL Speaker, 2007 TED Speaker, Working on solution for the Aging problem

Jason Youn – Photographer and Speaker

Todd Huffman – Scientist, deemed “Coolest Guy in the World” by several Creative Space members, first person to put a magnet in his fingertip to feel electrical currents, and talks on topics like “Hacking the Human Fantastic”

Martin Codrington – Talks on “How can we break these mental shackles imposed by assembly-line educational?

These are only a few of the people which I plan on meeting. I plan on meeting a hypothetical metric ton of people, and want to absorb as much knowledge from them as I can possibly survive through.

I also have some more selfish goals in attending this conference. The two free days I have in San Francisco I hope to get some very nice urban shots to hang up in my studio. I love the way San Francisco looks, and hope to bring back some good shots of the city.

BCS Fitness

BCS Fitness Webclip
I have to give it to my guys at Always Creative. They have really been pushing some work my way that probably wouldn’t have happened otherwise. One of the quick jobs I just finished up was a shoot for Brad Tillery (owner/personal trainer) at BCS Fitness. They have an awesome training session set up over there for anyone interested called their 12 week program which sounds very interesting, so I suggest you check it out. I’ve heard very good things…

One first step

February 7, 2008

It seems that I have fallen upon one hell of a deal over the past week, and have finally acquired myself a nice little place to set up shop. Working out of a 10ftx10ft room in the corner of The Creative Space worked well for events like BarCamp Texas, and random promotional shoots, but it just wasn’t cutting it as far as a place to take a client to get some decent studio shots. I needed a place to stretch my arms and extend my focal length.

It needs some work, but to be honest I can’t ask for a better place at this point. I’m excited to have somewhat of a clean slate to work with on this.

Next on the docket is figuring out what the first thing I’m going to do in here….

I’m running about a week behind, but I finally uploaded the images from last Wednesdays impromtu photoshoot on top of a campus parking garage. A couple local photo enthusiasts and seasoned photographers met at a local pub for a few drinks and the always anticipated Canon vs Nikon debate (we all know who wins this) when I started to wonder why we were even at the bar at all? Why were we not shooting?

A quick call to friend and a spontaneous location decision had everyone excited enough to bear the 41°F temperatures with winds around 10-15mph for at least a good two hours. I think our surprise model Ashley deserved a pat on the back for putting up with 5 photographers trying to organize their gear while she was standing in the cold.

Here are a few pictures from the shoot:
